Another easter with winner magically hitting form with no previous runs to suggest they should be anywhere near it. 800 womens 400 womens 400 FM to name a few. At least the sprint were somewhat predictable.

Too soon??

What about old mate running 0.5 faster on an uphill lake (grass track) as opposed to synthetic track with a tail wind?

2 runners taking the piss in the 400 open all season and crickets from the stewards. We all saw it. More piss taking in the womens with the winner finding some 30m from her last run and crickets again. As quoted on another post ‘it’s not what you know it’s who you know.” FFS

Wowee, you boys have had your little boots shaken. Obviously haven’t done your research have yous? Womens winner last 400m was over a month and a half ago. In that time she’s come 4th in a 120 at Castlemaine and won the Bendigo womens gift. Obviously in terrific form and even Tim rosen nailed the tip that her form will defiently have her top 3 for the 400. Take into account peaking etc. instead of trying to bring the light out of the race. How about you celebrate what a run it was and the athlete she could be. Pathetic

Dec 10 - Waverley - 31m 55.731
Jan 20 - Frankston - 31m 56.416
Feb 17 - Keilor - 31m 56.92
Apr 1 - Stawell - 31m 51.81

Wowee. If my athlete pulled that I would be marched in for a chat and argue why she should not be DQed. Anyway, lets celebrate how well she played this one because she ran well in other events.

I think we all had Martin in our Multis. Definitely one of the Certainties this year. Will be throwing Beasley in my Blackbook for next years 400m too. Only needs to get somewhere near pre babies form to get it done. But if she can do it after twins then kudos to her.

Agree, I think Martin has actually shown her form in her runs previously, showing us she had the ability to win it, unlike others in this race

You’re very laughable Kicker, obviously hurting from a loss over the weekend! Or still just learning about the sport that we are involved in. Halle Martin deserving winner, a joke that you think she should be DQd😂

Do you blokes realise that some of these girls are running 6 or 7 races in a day and you expect them to pull out 53 second runs in their second 400m in a day after running a couple of 70’s and 120’s beforehand. Martin had 7 runs at Frankston so there is no way she can run the 400m that quick. At Stawell they are on fresh legs and are the fittest they have been all season. I’m sure she dropped time in the Gift semi due to the fatigue from the Slashing 400m win. They are human after all. Congrats Halle , great win and well coached and placed. I’m sure every finalist ran quicker than they have all season.

Its not as if she has ran dead , got a lift then went, bang
The handicapper is obviously well aware of her workload and kept her on 31m , so no reward from the handicapper.
But what she has achieved is good old race fitness in 7 races to set her up for Stawell.
Good old fashion coaching. No rocket science to be had there.

Bit harsh on Aaron and Shane there. Started the season on 4m where he ran 3rd in final at Cobden. Only had 4.25 at Stawell. Won Ringwood 70 running 7.49 in the final there. Went down the barrel at Stawell and ran 7.43. Nothing to see there.

I'm not connected with APB or SM but I am confused by your grievance with his performance. The only questionable performance by APB over the 70 distance might be his Keilor result in your opinion? But APB showed his form with a win at Ringwood, and went on to win the Stawell 70m being only slightly ahead of the novice mark in a fantastic time for (essentially) a novice athlete. People should be excited by his result and his potential for the future. I feel for APB that he received the Jasper Thomas treatment with his 120m mark because the lad definitely could have shaken up that Stawell final off 6.75m. So I really don't understand your questioning Woodchopper. Out of all the sprint results from the weekend I'd say APB and Chloe Mannix-Powers were the least vexing.

Foxcatcher, you attitude is a bloody disgrace. "If you want honest running go back to the tartan." Some of those on here, defending obvious dodgey behaviour should take up a role as a steward and/or handicapper and put yourself in a position to deal with appalling head-scratching, reversals of form that happend from the same squads every Easter. Not everyone is trying to f*** over the handicapper. Those that do, have no moral compass and ruin a great sport.
Stawell Gift carnival was a disgrace, so many dodgey results.
I feel sorry for the handicappers who are good people trying to help the sport, who got f***** over by so called friends.
A lot of runners were lucky to escape the Pellow treatment.
Don't complain when you get called out and your mate gets a lengthy suspension.
This is why the VAL can't attract a decent steward willing to hand out UPs and NAPs. When they do caught they cry "persecution" and "I'm being picked on".
The VAL badly needs a steward who treats the dodgey trainers and the athletes with the same contempt they treat the handicappers.
Until then, this shit will continue to happen.

As a wise man one said: "If you don't have integrity, you have nothing. You can't buy it. You can have all the Stawell sashes you want, but if you are not a moral and ethical person, you really have nothing."

Mark Mark Mark, the fox believes you are living in la la land. Handicapped racing and honesty go together like the Demons and abstinence. Many here need to take a leaf out of the book of the now great Nick Fiedler and his ability to take almost any man to the promised land.

Btw, one of the the Stawell results that was well-deserved, classy and honest victory was Aaron Peter-Budge in the 70m. One for the good guys. Shane McKenzie coaches with integrity, his passion and love for the sport is shown by a respect for the rules and the role of the handicapper. If more coaches conducted themselves like Shane Mac, the sport would be much better off.
