Stawell 2025
It’s never too early for some predictions.
What’s everyone thinking for the upcoming season. Who are the improvers, who’ll take the next step and who’ll let go
Couple people I like the look of in the men’s
- P. Martin, B Culbert, A Peter-Budge, T Scheirs
In the women’s
- C Lythgo, S Rutherford, K Montagner, O Barry,
I Hollins
Keen to hear everyone else’s thoughts

Re: Stawell 2025
Seth Kennedy surely the early favourite if he keeps his best 100/200 times on hold for another season. Fits the eligibility criteria running two meets this season, (unlucky to come 2nd to a supreme athlete) both times. Wins a slow gift or a Cobden/Waverly and locks in 6.75m in over 12 months time. Very dangerous!
Others to watch - Peter-Budge, Ash L, Kidus (do they wait until 2026), Falconer-Boag, (Tom Pellow: Do we go there?, imagine he wears proper tights and the hat comes off), + 2 from NF Squad.

Seth Kennedy could be potentially one. Probably needs to find 3m over 120 though so would have to focus on the shorter sprints instead of the 400m which he is an outstanding talent in and a prime contender for world junior championships in 2026. Would think BR will push for Hunt again though. His best times give him a potential ceiling mark of 7m (had 6.75 for final this year). I think we will see him run high 12's to low 13's a bunch of times early season to improve his mark then another massive burst of improvement to win a gift. Has the talent so will final again next year and with any improvement from this season will be a very solid chance.
Peter-Budge goes without saying as a finalist but needs a slower year to win as last 50 will be an issue.
Falconer-Boag a good chance. With a year of solid development he can definitely go 12.0. Ran dead this year in the 120m semi but showed his hand in the 200m. Will shine next year!
Pellow.. will be interesting to see how he is treated. Technically as they have disqualified his heat run at Stawel the time can not be used to handicap him so he should not come backwards at the start of the season to starting mark and could potentially win a gift early season and be a huge chance. Especially if he loses the hat!
NF.. yeah it's a given he'll have very generous marks for some talented athletes so always a chance.

Just because Pellow was disqualified doesn’t mean his history is wiped. He was given a UP anyway so can be rehandicapped over all distances.

Re: Stawell 2025
Love your findings Nemo!
-Patty Martin will land on a nice mark above 9m for Stawell.
-Scheirs has somehow extended his mark to 7m or so
-I hope Hoffman gets a good go at it next year.
-Kennedy surely has to be rehandicapped otherwise hes a certainty to final. this is why we have the OGA system in play, so talented juniors CAN be rehandicapped. If we dont, we are no better than the rubble in SAAL
-Falconer-Boag is an interesting one, 200m run suggests that he will be good enough off 7-8m, but his 70m times suggest hes got a bit to work on. Maybe he was just being careful???
-Ash, Aubery and Sami will all be watched closely to see how much they've improved
Womens
- POD squad chances look to be the young talent of Grace Crowe. Halle Martin surely will go well off the limit next year
- Vikings - Lythgo and Matzer if they get themselves in the same shape as Mannix-Power
- Amber Van Eede and Isabella Hollins are my blackbookers. Hollins showed heaps this year and Van Eede runs some good 400s, suggesting that she could run a good gift from 11m or less.
- Zoe Neale will definitely win a gift next season and take a lift
- Hopefully Barry can take a win next season after a few close calls this year
- Kinnersly and Winshuttle to be the big improvers next year

Like it Nemo - would be nice to see D Culbert call his son in a gift final. Nice debut season for him this season.
Surely P Martin wins one this season and attacks stawell? Impressive stawell 400 victory the year before and seemed to lay low this year?
T Schiers - smooth mover that has plenty of upside. Has he got enough speed?
T Perry - his got the mark to be in it to win it - should win one next year and be a contender.

Re: Stawell 2025
How about this one? Sorry in advance Robbo if this spoils your discretion.
Asher Ward just won the u19 Beach Sprint Nationals. A sneaky 12.6 at Stawell this year off 6m, maybe hoping to fly under the radar.
Now had 2 runs in the gift, I predict that he’ll run one more gift before he takes a win and goes to 6.75-7m.
Not going the early crow, but this stinks of being another Mannix-Power.
Can anyone find a video of the win?

Yeah, no stress, Norm. Only six squad members are named above, increasing the chance of being correct one day. We are happy to have our athletes be named on this site as it always makes good chat if some unusual things occur with our athlete's handicaps. I encourage you not to stop.
It was a good win by Asher, medalled most years so it is great for him to get the W this year.

That's a shame about Perrry. Must know he will get better lifts.
Movements at the Dinan station, the improvement train has been decommissioned for a while.
Keating bus incoming picking them up, Tj in the back seat.

But how much of it is true? Probably none.
