VALE Keith Douglas
The VAL have just posted the following, please spread the word around. A touching tribute to a great man. Please note, you may need to zoom out in order to see the entire photo.
VALE KEITH DOUGLAS
On behalf of the VAL Board, we wish to extend our sincere condolences to Keith’s wife Tracy, his two loving daughters, Thy & Tess and the Team Ireland training squad.
On Easter Sunday, the sport of Professional Running in Australia and Scotland, suddenly lost one of their own, Keith Douglas.
After making his mark in the 1980’s on the Highland Games circuit in Scotland, Keith made his first trip to Australia in 1990 to experience Professional Running here.
It didn’t take long for him to taste success, winning the Barooga Gift on his first visit.
Keith made a couple more visits to Australia over the next few years before finally immigrating here for good. On the short visits here before settling, Keith became close friends with the Dunbar and Ireland families, joining their training squad for the rest of his running career.
On retirement, Keith joined the VAL Board for a number of seasons. Those who shared board roles with him at the time, fondly remember Keith for his kind nature, level-headedness and generous contributions to the sport.
Keith will be dearly missed by many within the VAL and Scotland Pro Running communities.
Keith’s funeral is scheduled for 9am on Wednesday 10th April 2024 at Tobin Brothers Funerals, 505 Princess Highway, Noble Park.
The funeral will be live-streamed on the following link: https://tobinbrothers.com.au/tribute/details/31635/Keith-Douglas/obituary.html?fbclid=IwAR3htqiYQNGk5p-lzejifVD67lMNNWQNeScE9GEHNbgmvmRY-PYJwl3td2g_aem_AV58M2Jy03oEHNIm3zCfLIMpCTz8-uCF_Nb-oPT58OFdCXV9tmTAEEiAI6ZEdKNJEcfKtOrjkRGhJLGmut6vIwXv#tribute-start
