2022 Bay Sheffield Form Guides are back
The Men's & Women's 2022 Bay Sheffield Form Guides are done.
Below are a few of the quirkier & more amusing write ups of the men's.
Now the Bay Sheffield has got back to normal from the debacle it was for three years, the form guide is back better than ever and so is the calcutta. Unfortunately, the bookmaker is unavailable due to Covid.
Calcutta tickets ($5 ea) are available so if you want to be part of the action then call the SAAL or send me a message to organise.
Catch ya round like a rissole.
PS - I'm only here to promote the Form Guides and the Calcutta.
Max Tracey (SA)
The outright Smokey of the field – an American baseballer from Atlanta Georgia, currently playing with the Adelaide Angels Baseball Club. He decided to have a crack at this strange event called the Bay Sheffield. Based on his unplaced debut run at the PreBay (13.08s off 6.0m) he won’t be selling his baseball mitt on GumTree any time soon.
Nicholas Krznaric (SA)
Burst on the scene in 2016, impressively winning the 70m Novice (7.71s off 5.50m) at the PreBay carnival. Best recent 120m gift performance would be his 2nd place at Reynella (12.83s off 11.0m) in January. He followed up with 4th at Camden and Crystal Brook. Only 3rd in his heat at Brighton (11.25m). The world’s worst BBL batting mob Sydney Thunder has more chance of scoring 400 in its next game vs Adelaide Strikers than Nicholas has of scoring the Bay Sheffield sash.
Jack Lacey (VIC)
Won the 2015 Junior Bay Sheffield U/18s (13.11s off 8.0m). Won the 2016 Bendigo Black Opal 400m (44.99s off 34m). Took some time off and returned in 2021. He was 6th in a 120m gift semi-final at Warrnambool (12.94s off 8.0m) & 4th in the heat at Terang (13.17s off 8.0m). On recent form, cannot imagine he will go further than the semi-final stage. Thinking of Lacey, reminds me of the character Lacey Underall in my favourite movie - Caddyshack . Grab the popcorn and watch it – very funny.
Ben Larsson (SA)
Tough nugget who gives it his all in every race. Won the 70m at Flinders and has been in several Gift finals including a close 2nd at Mt Gambier (12.44s off 12.50m). Back to the 11.0m limit so meets the field worse off. If you want a bloke alongside, you in the trenches, he would be first picked. But he has as much chance in this as Al Pacino has of winning the Melbourne Cup on an alpaca.
Michael Papanotis (SA)
Won the Kensington Gift as a 15yo off 14.75m in 12.44sec when the marks were heavily inflated.
Had 2 years off then returned this season but has not progressed beyond a heat at Port Adelaide, Mt Gambier or Brighton (13.70s off 10.50m). Papanotis is the 2,944,094th most common name in the world. A traditional Greek name it means optimistic, inspiring, outgoing & expressive. That’s nice but doesn‘t change his chances which are only slightly better than the name’s popularity.
Michael Romero (VIC)
Won a couple of Warrnambool 300s and this season claimed his first “up the middle” sash with victory in the Essendon 70m. The son of North Melbourne & Western Bulldogs footy legend Jose Romero, he has the sporting talent, it’s just a matter of time before he starts to feature in 120’s. However more chance of Jose lining up for the Chilean Dodgeball team than Michael lining up in the Bay Sheff final.

Re: 2022 Bay Sheffield Form Guides are back
Gotta love the form guide. Glad to see it back! I love reading the info and the funny puns on each athlete. Jordi's little piece sits in the frame with her sash from her win in 2018.
It's just amazes me how much time and effort Youngy puts into the form guide, and the sport in general.
We just need to make sure and understand, this is one blokes view on the race. Most of the time is pretty funny and accurate though. So before we get bent out of shape and start to judge.....ask yourself this.....Do I put in as much effort as he does!! I know I certainly do not.
Looking forward to the read and can't wait for the Bay...Even though I don't agree with the women's handicaps Youngy HAHAHA. Just needed to get that dig in.
Form Guide
PAUL YOUNG (SA)
Works hard in the sport and has more knowledge than most, if not all. Not a bad coach as well, and has some talent running in the Bay this year. Speaks his mind and calls it as it is...Louder than the V8's in Adelaide on a sunny December day. Do we think this bloke has any chance of getting the respect he deserves....I DON'T THINK SO,

Well said David!
Good to be able to have a laugh with others and at yourself! Seems to be a missing trait sometimes and the form always brings a smile regardless of the racing especially if you dont take yourself too seriously
Thanks Youngy. Love ya work
