COVID travel restrictions hit those currently in Brisbane.

Due to the the community transmission in Brisbane it has just been declared by numerous states including Victoria that anyone that is there or has been there must apply for a travel permit to Victoria and once approved must self isolate in Victoria until a negative test is produced. This puts a lot of the athletes currently in Brisbane for the Grand Prix in a difficult position when wanting to return to Victoria or travel to Victoria for Stawell. They won’t be able to compete at Stawell if they don’t comply with these protocols.

This affects athletes like Chico, Hana Basic, Ebony Lane, Romanin, McSweyn, etc.. just to name a few..

Not good timing for them individually or Stawell organisers.

If anyone is still looking for some last minute cheap accom, I know a QLD based athlete looking to offload their room for Stawell. Let me know!

In Victoria, the entire Greater Brisbane area has been designated a "red zone" under the state's travel permit system.
This means from 6pm today, returning Victorian residents will need to apply for a red-zone permit - and if approved - will need to return straight home and self-quarantine for 14 days.

Greater Brisbane area includes the City of Brisbane, City of Ipswich, Logan City, Moreton Bay Region and Redlands City.

And if you are not Victorian and you come from those areas of Qld then you can’t enter Victoria at all, unless you have a workers exemption.

I now have 2 rooms available due to QLD athletes not being able to travel to Victoria for the Gift. The rooms are in Stawell close to the track and very cheap as the athletes just want to recoup some of the money outlaid for these rooms. Gut renching to hear some athletes are missing Stawell due to a couple covid cases. Really heartbreaking for them.
