Re: SAAL AGM June 21st 7pm
I couldn't agree more Z.if you put your hand up. You are committing to position. I understand things in life change etc.. But to resign two days in just seems odd and aelfish.
Didn't they like the bay going back to it's home?
Don't they want to be part of the solution?
I don't know the two individuals, but I hope they took their dummies with them.
Any way. Really looking forward to this season might even get to Camden this year!!!

Re: SAAL AGM June 21st 7pm
Just to put the record straight in regard to the comments in this thread.
Three people have resigned from the committee:
One resigned before the AGM but the understandable circumstances of the night meant that this resignation was not communicated to the members or those attending the AGM.
One resigned after the AGM due to personal circumstances.
One resigned after the AGM at the first meeting. The reason was explained to the committee face to face. It was done honestly and professionally and ended with wishing the committee and the sport well for the future.
The Management committee determined that in light of three positions being available we should go back to the SA Athletic community and ask for expressions of interest from individuals who would like to contribute.
The committee has absolutely no issue with those who resigned or their reasons for doing so. We would like nothing better than for them to re-engage with the committee and the sport if and when they feel comfortable.
As we indicated on the night of the AGM and in our first press release we will be focusing on bringing the sport together.
This for some may take time given the level of separation that exists. We understand that support is not a right and that it should be earned. We ask that everyone involved in the sport be prepared to do the same move on from the past (even though this might be difficult) and focus on how we can re-invigorate this sport in our State.

Absolutely Z-Score. Definitely wouldnt want people to feel left out or ignored either. That was the committee of the past, I have high expectations from this new committee that they wont simply sweep things under the carpet or put some things or people into the too hard basket. If there is a problem work through it and discuss it rather than take one point of view and base things around that.
I think if you say something will happen stick to it, your word is everything these days.

However understand that you nominated but didnt get a gig.
So the athletic community north of the CBD arent represented at the saal.
Its an untapped area, no meetings there and half of Adelaide live there.
Only person on the committee living north of the cbd is Phil Daws and if walked into any club out north they wouldnt know him.
I think the south adelaide athletic league had a real good chance to expand its wings and bring a meeting back to Tea Tree Gully but the train has left the depot.

Re: SAAL AGM June 21st 7pm
So , T.S nominates for a committee position at the AGM and gets in excess of 20 votes.
But misses out
He then nominates for a committee position and is one of only 3 to nominate for two positions .
But misses out.
T.S. has been a handicapper, is a coach , athlete for over 15 years, event organiser , very very successful businessman and the list goes on.
Not sure how you missed out

If my part role in all of this was to get to having Kym elected and new committee who I do believe can do a great job (they dont really need me at all), if it was also to have the handicap system removed then job done.
I'm sure things are set to be vastly better, so good luck all.
Thanks and goodbye!

Hi T.S. You will be a loss to the sport.
Yep youve called a spade a spade and a shovel a shovel.
And thats whats needed around a committee table, sometimes the best committees are those that have a difference of opinion.
Phil Doors was on the committee that voted to take the Bay away from Colley , now hes on the committee to bring it back, thats so funny. He supported the new handicapping system now hes voting it out.Reminds you about when you were young and you wanted to be popular and get invited to birthday parties, you had to be in the in group.
And you couldnt get a gig.
Perhaps Kim can come on here and tell us why you didnt get selected and to come on here and tell us the others were better qualified doesnt wash.
Like you T.S. Im hanging up the spikes

Re: SAAL AGM June 21st 7pm
Will be interesting on Kyms response as these two new committee members werent present at the AGM and werent in the apologies so not sure why you werent selected.
Agree the two selected committee members are very worthy but Im not sure why they didnt nominate before or at least attend the AGM.
So whos the new vice president, has to be one of those committee members on 1 year term Frank, Lisa or Conor.
I think T.S. you would have been a great vice president having been there and done it in all aspects.

Re: SAAL AGM June 21st 7pm
Hats off to Kym, he has come in with an unbiased attitude and doing what all presidents do , and thats to ensure the league is run within accordance of the rules and regulations.
Only problem is , it is all going to backfire on him for being the president the league has yearned for.
All decision making, will invaribly come back to a lop sided management committee.
So the league will still have the plucka duck handicap system , but with a smother of sugar and spice to appease everyone............it wont .
And we will be left with the same chief steward who will put out a warning to warn athletes that the next warning will be a warning that there are mininmal warnings left and the final warning will be the last warning and there will be no more warnings.
Be prepared to hold a special meeting down the track because bringing the bay sheff back to colley is not going to be enough to bring athletes back.
Remember 33% of the current management committee were elected by those within the committee, so sorry to say Kym the odds are stacked against you , although, you as a president are jumping through all the right hoops

Re: SAAL AGM June 21st 7pm
Not sure we got it quite right when two nominations were called for two positions on managaement committee.
Nominations should have been called for one position on management and vice president position on management committee
c) The Elected Office Bearers shall consist of President, Vice-President and five (5)
Committee Members.
In accordance with the constitution , did any of the nominees actually nominate for the vice president role or was the vice president role which was vacant even offered.
