Who will win the 2023 Waverley 100m Womens Gift
2023 Waverley 100m Women's Gift
Backing up the strong entries from the weekend for the women we see 63 vying for the Waverley Gift sash. Grace O'Dwyer will start at the back off 2.5m unfortunately we won't see Zoe Neale line up after going down at Warrnambool (hope all is on the mend!). Wang Lecouteur off 5.5m definitely has to be one to keep an eye on here but going off the same mark is De Salis and Olympic representative Kendra Hubbard! Great to see her entered over the 100m distance.
Liv Ryan off 6m has a handy mark but they'll be chasing Scarlett Burmeister off 6.25m who we saw scorch the 200m at Essendon to take the win there. Ramona Casey goes from 6.75m and is great to see her entered doing great things with pro running in NSW and the Newcastle Gift.
Olivia May will find it tough opening her VAL season running coming back to 7.5m after the Beachside win last season. Chloe Kinnersly (7.5m) and Alyssa Neale (9.25m) will be threats after making the finals over the weekend and Ruby Crisp off 13.25m has been everywhere of late:
- Terang 800m Open Final (3rd)
- Warrnambool 70m Womens Final (3rd)
- Warrnambool 120m Womens Final (6th)
- Warrnambool 300m Womens Final (2nd)
- Geelong 100m Womens Final (3rd)
- Geelong 800m Womens Final (2nd)
She has made the final of every race she has run this season and from 70m, 100m, 120m, 300m, and 800m! That sash can't be far off!

Norm did a great job of picking last weeks top 3, and they certainly didn’t disappoint. I know there’s a long way to go in the season but Mannix-Power, Phillips, Hewett and probably Newton all look to be in that Stawell final.
I think Burmeister does the same thing this weekend. Gets her full lift, goes to 8.25m and is a lock for a Stawell final

Zoe Glassborow first run of year , now living interstate. Wang Lecouteur and De Salis both very consistent. But Burmeister meets them better at handicaps. Burmeister looks the one, if Glassbarrow brings her best form will final.

Welp! The majority got done in by a scratching with Burmeister not running but still Olivia said "It's gonna be May"... which is more than I can say for this lot! Not a single vote... or were these votes conveniently "rigged"?!
Great to see Spencer nearly back on top and wowee what a cracking run from Wang Lecouter! A few voters backing them in which was good to see.
Brush up on the bagpipes and have a good glass of Glenfiddich on hand as we move to Maryborough for the Highland Gathering!

Another pretty exciting final with May coming out on top. Wang LeCouteur was the run of the race. Can this form hold up come Stawell? I’m not sure the finalists can match it with the likes of Mannix Power and Hewitt.Crisp definitely one to watch come Maryborough or a Ballarat type Gift. Anywhere where she isn’t running an 800m beforehand. Another I’d be interested in watching would be Patsouras. Seems like she is knocking on the door of making finals. Has a mark that if Scott has got her right, she could start figuring in finals come the New Year

Love the analysis!
Definitely think Mannix-Power and Hewitt are locks for a Stawell final. Phillips will be after she takes her lift. Not many spots left now! Not sure if anyone in that final is ready to become a Stawell threat.
