Why would a first time VAL runner with a pb of 22.92 -0.8 be given 12m in their first gift?

Any wonder they won by metres. Should be off 5 not 10. Feel sorry for everyone else up there

winner had 10m , has run 50.59 for 400m. Winning time 10.09 wind assisted. What a farce ! What happened to novice marks ? Why in the world would you give 10m to runner ( 25yo)  with almost sub 50s 400m speed. This converts to 120m mark of 11.75m.

"VAL handicappers will consider recent performance history from the NSWAL and/or amateur athletics results, when determining handicaps. Should the handicapper not have enough performance history for an athlete, they may still allocate the novice mark"

The magnitude of oversight/ mistake is behind ridiculous. What a absolute joke.
