Payne is in red hot form coming of the back of a couple of wins this season
Jessie Andrews another hot favourites beat  Payne at State Vic’s in the 200
Basic might not be at her best  but still dangerous over the 100
Reddingius another one not to dismiss will put up fight over the 120 heats and semi finals ,should final

Hi SAAL
Not sure it you're aware but the main race on day one is often a lead in run for the 120 on day 2 the main race!!!
To schedule it at 10.10 final will lead to Any athlete making the final won't be in bed till well after midnight. not a good lead in!

Please just scrap the 3200m races no one wants them and they are only run by ammo runners who's egos are bigger than that of Connor McGregor. Turn up take the sash and leave and pretend they care.

Thanks a Steve

someone on the finishing line cant count
Totally agree Stevie, you wont see many of the 3200m runners for the remainder of the season, theres a front markers and back markers purely because someone one the finishing line cant count, simple as that, and why not put the two 3200m races at the beginning of day 2.
I see a lot of scratchings in the 70m events purely for the reason you have made.

All you have to do is ask. It’s not a competition between the two!

I think the best chances in the Women’s Gift are as follows:

Jessie Andrews
Ellie Whittingham
Liana Channon
Jordy McMillan
Charlotte McAuliffe
Ellie Keritianos
Jess Payne
Helena Schwerdt
Amie Mittiga
Grace O’Dwyer

One thing for sure is , that if you fancy yourself in the Sheff , you wont be running the evening before.
My top 3 in no particular order are
Channon
Raouano
Whittingham.
Rapuano has been absolutely crunched in the polls, either has a big band of relatives and friends or theres those out there that are in the know.
Ran a 14.225 off 19.75 three years ago.
7m isnt real hard to improve in 3 years with better coaching.
If she has improved that much and the polls are correct, she will lead for a very long way.
Come on Vics spit it out , is she a chance.
10 Picks Tim and no mention of her.

15.6 off 16m this season. If she improves 20m in a couple of months since this run then I am all for reintroducing DQ’s on the day. Absolutely no chance. Family and friends have hacked the poll.

Also I gave my top 10, but that doesn’t mean I think 10 can win it.

Post by SA Whisperer Sun Dec 25, 2022 12:32 pm

Hi Tim
Typed her name into val results and it didnt show 15.6 off 16
Did show that both Rapuana girls ran exactly the same time off the exactly same mark at Castlemaine
But Isabelle did run off 8 at Catlemaine and ran 15.87, so not much improvement needed there in 3 years to be a chance.
All I can say is what the polls are showing , maybe Isabelle is the one.
Any goss on her 15.87 off 8, 3 years ago natural improvement would be enough.
So Isabella ran 14.233 off 19.75
and 15.87 off 8 at the same meet .
So the way I read it , Isabelle only needs to have improved .6 mps in 3 years to be around 14.00

Whisperer they’re South Australian. They ran in SA this season. They are no chance in the gift. They’re at the Bay to have a run and enjoy themselves. Will not even progress to semis. I don’t know how many different ways I have to say this before you accept it haha

In the context of this field and the SA handicapping for it, the handicapper has deemed 2.50m to be appropriate. I have Michael Hanna in the top 10 but when push comes to shove - I can’t squeeze him into the top 6.

Hanna’s finishing position is irrelevant, winning the rich Kilcoy gift and then the Terang win should incur a penalty. In the event he wins and still gets the SG bonus would seem odd. Seems like they’ve played their hand perfectly, one amateur race in 20.81, and no 100m races this season. He’s too close to the runners off 6-8m to hold him off,  the ones off 10 and 10.5 will be hard to beat.

The other option was you cancel the meet, so there was no option. No- one is forced to run.

Women dont have a 800m to run on day 2 so you just transfer the 550m women to day 2
And transfer a 3200m event to day two .Its not rocket science to abide by your own rules that have been set

They could shorten the programme considerably by cutting out all the dead time. 5 minutes between heats is far too long. 3 minutes is all that is needed. We don’t need interviews with third place 14 year olds to pad out the program.!

Agreed Sanchez.

Interview the winner and than move on in the under 14 races.
Scrap the 3200 all together. Not needed

I will say it was great to watch it at the bay again! For the life of me I can't understand why the old boys thought it was a good idea to move it.
And even better to see quality runner's back!

Was interesting to note the committee members who brought in the debacle of a handicapping system were no where to be seen! I wonder why
