Mt Gambier
The SAAL were told but still went ahead and ran the Country meeting in direct competition to State Relay day, it can never happen again.
A city meeting on the Sunday , maybe Mort Daly would have been far better..
The turn out in Mt Gambier was embarrassing to say the least.
Also had the smelly look of it , of Coaches not running relay day but also not supporting Mt Gambier. It looks like some are still not ready to move on.The Whisperer knows which way you all voted at the AGM.Didnt the Boys vote one way and the girls voted the other at your club. The Boys also ran at the Mount. Time you all started supporting what we now have.
Victorians had their Relay day yesterday and didnt run a pro meeting.Lesson learnt all around.
Can someone please help the distance handicapper and check the handicaps, theres enough Stewards that should be doing this.Well done to Nathan Visiglio for now having a Burnside Gift sash and a 1600m Mt Gambier sash.
How in the hell did he get 300m to run off in the 1600m, he was licking his lips and couldnt get to Mt Gambier quick enough. To be honest , all the other runners in the race were running for the minor money.
Nathan is trained by one of the best conditioners of middle distance running and has a pb in 5km Park Runs this year of 17.17.Not enough homework done on an athlete with limited distance form.
17.17 is a pretty good jog and not worthy of 300m handicap.
Lesson learnt , no longer Mr Nice Guy to entice athletes to run , it will bite you on the bum.

Re: Mt Gambier
All quite confusing to me.
The Mt Gambier Christmas Parade was the 19th which is tradionally the same weekend as the Gift.
Theres no SAAL meeting next weekend,
Yet the SAAL go to Gambier this weekend the same weekend as the athleticssa relay day.
Who on the Committee is responsible for these stupid decisions.
Remember , you were elected by the people for the people not for self interest.

Re: Mt Gambier
No results for the 3200m
CS race report will be worth reading.
May I suggest the League invests in an Abacus for the Bay.If what I am hearing is correct , was the same person involved, that couldnt count the laps correctly at Camden meeting over 1600m in 2020.
Will be worth going along to the Bay and watching a 3200m event on a 320 track.

Hi Floater
Do you know if the rumours are true. I have heard that the laps were counted wrong?
Cheers Stevie

Now I've watched the race on the tube.
Either my watch is slow or I've timed them to 7:30 well inside the net target time.
Now either someone has missed counted the laps. Can't see how you can! Were only 9 runners any one with 10 toes and 10 fingers could keep count or we're going to see some slick South Aussies at Zatopek
Also NTT suggest that every stop watch held by an official wasn't working?.
Why not just admit it? A week on and the SAAL is the laughing stock again!
See you after Christmas Tassie - until SA can be transparent and have competent officials I won't be coming

Cocks can be seen running up to the FINISHING LINE and signaling to the Chief Steward with one or two fingers.

Re: Mt Gambier
These are the times for the first 5 placegetters taken off the video.
Surely a Steward had a stop watch.
Chief Steward standing right at the finish. The buck stops there.
You can only compete off the mark you are given and compete over the distance set out, Full marks for those that turned up and ran.

Re: Mt Gambier
WAS THE TRACK MARKED CORRECTLY
Winner went under 4.00 in the 1600m
Port Adel S Sibbick ....4.10.12 off 310m 1st place
Mt Gambier S Sibbick...400.06 off 275m 2nd place
So Sibbick comes off 35m more and runs 10 sec quicker
Got to be DQ or fined or was the distance dodgy.

Re: Mt Gambier
What a mess..
So we are looking at, possibly the runners running 10m short per lap and one lap short.
So possibly , its a double whammy.

Z having no interest in SAAL what is the current go with the stewards report? Pick and choose when there put in.
Are they done weeks after the event when everything is forgotten.
Or do they just treat the runners like idiots and sweep sweep sweep

Hi Stevie.
Blank page for Flinders and nothing as yet from Pt Adelaide.
Seeing some of the things that are happening and not getting notification if athletes are being held accountable is beginning to get spoken about.
You get the feeling back, that the Chief Steward is warning everyone that the next warning will be a warning to warn everyone that there will be no more warnings.

Re: Mt Gambier
From SAAL Team app, post by Jenny Poole
MT GAMBIER 3200m
At the SAAL Management Committee meeting, members considered what actions to take as a result of the 3200m event at Mount Gambier being a lap short.
REALLY 1 lap short.
If the Committee thinks they were only 1 lap short, I believe in the 3 little pigs.
1 lap plus the extra metres every lap.
By the way ,I am told the missing lap was 3 TO GO.
Counting laps has never been a problem in the past except when a certain person has been in control of the abacus.
Get the right person or persons for the job and all is okay.

Re: Mt Gambier
The problem is Stevie , if the saal dont come out and admit that the track was short , those that travelled to Mt Gambier and ran the 1600m will be either disadvantaged in future handicaps or disciplined down the track , pardon the pun , for running slow.StevieBee wrote:They need to have a committee meeting to discuss the issue

Take Oliver Sibbick for instance , he runs 4.20 off 260 at Pt Adelaide then goes to the Mount and runs 40m quicker , off the same mark, runs 4.12.
Dont acknowledge the 3200 short lap , get your heads out of the sand or your backside and admit the other stuff up as well.'
Did the chief check the track .
