Race Reports
Any chance of Race Reports .
The lad who received a 50m lift in the 1600m event and came out and ran slower yesterday .Not On
Chance to show the SAAL has changed, if no action is taken, nothing has changed.
Who is his coach.
Runs 2.26.34 off 230m at Burnside.
Runs 2.27.18 off 280m at PA
First Question , how did he get a 50m lift.
Second Question how can you run slower.
If there is a logical reason , then I apologise, but if not, out with the book and start writing.

Re: Race Reports
Whisperer, the reports are there for season 2022/2023.
Hidden away in a back section you will find them under Stewards reports.
Pretty much same dribble as last season.Standard grass , $1.50 snags at the barbie etc etc.
Can someone tell the CS to go and have a look at the VAL format , its straight to the point and its informative .
It is also front and centre of their web page.
Used properly , the reports can be very informative and a deterrant.
Yes Whisperer 5.15 MPS down to 4.94 MPS.One would think with less distance to run his MPS would be higher.
Will be very interesting to see what action the Chief took.

Re: Race Reports
Below is the Stewards Report from SAAL week 1 and the Race Report from VAL week one.
Any chance of getting the saal set out , similar to val.
CHIEF STEWARD’S REPORT
MARION GIFT CARNIVAL
Sunday 16th October 2022
1. The opening meeting for the season was a very successful Event.
2. We were fortunate with the weather. We were blessed with a fine, sunny and very
calm day.
3. The surface of the arena was well prepared, albeit with some soft sandy patches. I
rated both the sprint and circle tracks “standard grass”. The circle track was 410m.
4. There were no significant issues, and the whole day went smoothly.
5. There was one injury. In the 300m Men’s final, Nathan Visciglio injured his
hamstring, and received the standard 28 day suspension.
6. I had occasion to remind one coach that coaches are not allowed to coach on the
arena. I told him to leave the arena.
7. All in all, a very good day. Thanks again to all Officials and helpers
Dennis Letton
Chief Steward
Meeting: Essendon Gift, 12th November 2022
Weather: Warm afternoon into cool evening and late rain, light to moderate head winds
Track: 400m synthetic track
Commentator: Ollie Wurm
Wind Gauge: Automatic
Starters: Rob McIntosh and Graeme Humphrey
Photo Finish: Chloe Blennerhassett, Leah Macdonald
Results: Nila Blennerhassett
Stewards: Rob Lehmann
Handicappers: Colin Lane, Jonathon Rogers, Chris Macdonald
NAP’s
70m Men: Matthew Eddy (time), Matt Standfield (brk),
70m Women: Zoe Glassborow (time), Lucy Zotti (time)
200m Women’s Gift: Mikeala Selaidinakos (inj), Akshaya Iyer (time)
200m Men’s Gift: Chris Diegan (inj)
300m Masters: James McEniry (time), Nick Howard (inj)
550m Open: Lonain Burnett (inj)
Stewards Notes from the day:
This was a well conducted and attended meeting to start the season, congratulations to the Essendon Gift committee and all runners who competed.
Chris Diegan was unable to take his place in the 200m Gift semi final due to injury (14 days).
Nick Howard was unable to take his place in the 300m Masters final due to injury (14 days).
Lonain Burnett was unable to take his place in the Open 550m final due to injury (14 days).
Mikeala Selaidinakos did not take her place in semi final 2 of the 200m Women’s Gift. When spoken to by the Stewards, Mikeala advised she had a tight hamstring and wasn’t aware she needed to scratch. As this was Mikeala’s first run with the VAL she was given a caution only.
Anna Kasapis (o45 800m), Richard Polkinghorne (1600m open) and Shane Mallia (1600m open) were given permission to wear flats and will advise the Stewards before returning to racing in spikes.
Stewarding Comments:
It is the runner’s responsibility to ensure they are at the start line for their heat. We had to place a number of runners into alternate heats due to them missing their heat and going forward this will not be done.
It is the responsibility of runners to ensure their performance history outside of the VAL has been declared prior to a meeting. PB’s should be notified immediately to the office and new runners should ensure their performance history is accurate. Failure to do so may result in sanctions being applied.
Runners are advised to re-read the Stewarding notes that were issued at the commencement of last season, particularly in regard to ‘winning intent’ and also competing with consistency from week to week. You can read the notes HERE
Registered Runners and Trainers only, should be on the ground and this should be limited to warming up and competing. Anyone outside of registered Runners and Trainers will be requested to leave the infield.
Breaking in a heat or semi final and not progressing will result in an NAP at best. Breaking in a final is an automatic NAP at best.
Any chance of getting the saal set out , similar to val.

We are still waiting for the Flinders Chief Steward report where a runner in the 70m final got that big a flier you could have thought he was in the previous race.
Did any action get taken or was it swept under the carpet.

Re: Race Reports
Additionally, we have agreed with the Chief Steward the adoption of a standard pro-forma report format that incorporates race conditions, a listing unacceptable performances (UP), non approved performances (NAP) and race day suspensions. This will commence at the Keith Patching Memorial Carnival.
Does this mean , No Chief Stewards reports until after Brighton.

Re: Race Reports
Flinders Chief Steward Report is in , FINALLY , its taken a month.
No mention of the absolute FLIER, the athlete got in the 70m.
Everyone else saw it.Chief Steward must have been the only person who didnt.
Some one needs to tell the Chief Steward to go to a val meeting and see where the val chief steward officiates from , ITS EVERYWHERE.
Not the finishing line , you limit your viewing of races if you are glued to the finishing line. You have a Chief Judge that can look after the finishing line , Why have the two main officials in each others pocket in the one place.

Re: Race Reports
Im beginning to understand how the Chief stuffed up the laps at Mt Gambier.
Dont blame the different handicaps , dont blame anyone else , you have put out a Race Rerport that explains everything.
GENERAL COMMENTS
Conduct of Meeting The weather created significant challenges for both officials and athletes. The officials tent collapsed
creating exposure of electronics to the elements. Fortunately we were able to secure another tent which
did the job. We secured a replacement tent for the next meeting.
In the 3200m event with handicaps ranging from 175m to 850m there were:
4 runners required to run to the judge + 7 laps
3 runners required to run to the judge plus 6 laps
2 runners required to the judge + 5 laps
Explain to SA Whisperer and everyone else, from the handicaps below on a 400m track , which 4 athletes are required to run to the judge + 7.
If you cant get it right 2 weeks after the meeting , BEST OF LUCK AT THE BAY.
I suggest you have another go.Then make an admendment to the Race Report.

Yeah Stevie
If you cant work out , how many laps an athlete has to run before the race begins ,its not going to suddenly come good during the race.
Just showing what I pretty much already thought .

Re: Race Reports
Robbie Killmier is in great shape and has a sub 4.00m pb this year over 1500.
Off scratch you would expect him to break ceiling of 4.40 every day of the week.
Saal need to adjust the ceiling to what the val has and thats low 4.20s

No Chief Steward reports from the Bay as yet.
Im looking forward to hearing the track was 320m around and standard grass.
How nice the villi pie and pasties were , the calamari was extremely popular and the coopers tent was well patronised.

Re: Race Reports
Taylah Parker was the fastest heat winner of the 550m womens at the prebay mort daly meeting.
Then ran second last in the final.
The val in their Maryborough race report, show you what action was taken, and how to document it
Zander McDougall was spoken to following the final of the Master’s 120m as he was a clear fastest qualifier, however dropped time to finish 7th. He was issued with an NAP for the performance.
Not hard to do and its open and transparent to everyone.
As far as everyone is aware the athlete at mort daly had no action taken against her and has gotten away with her actions.
Perhaps she got one of the saal Chiefs warnings lol
