Toby Schreier Flinders meeting
I am fully aware of the 3200 backmarker running off scratch, and the faster runners having their handicap adjudments staggered so as not to disadvantage the front markers as they have further to run etc I know all that.
But how in the hell did the system spit out FINAL MARK = 325.00m for Jordan Harvey in the first place , only for the chook raffle wheel to be adjusted to 95m
Run Counts Used (athletes under the age of 20 entered in a non junior race category use their top 3 runs):
One Year: 8 Runs /3 Used - Three Year: 22 Runs /6 Used - Five Year: 36 Runs /9 Used
MPS of 1 Year Runs:
5.189, 5.176, 5.17,
MPS of 3 Year Runs:
5.39, 5.389, 5.387, 5.342, 5.337, 5.334,
MPS of 5 Year Runs:
5.39, 5.389, 5.387, 5.383, 5.357, 5.342, 5.337, 5.334, 5.318,
Base Mark
342.14m
Novice Reduction
Runs over this distance category: 69
Proportion of difference between raw mark and novice mark used: 0
Novice Reduction in Metres (Raw mark - Novice mark x Novice proportion):
(342.14 - 250) x 0 = 0m
Junior Reduction
Not a junior athlete
Holiday Reduction
Runs over this distance category this last twelve months: 9
Holiday Reduction in MPS: 0
The target time: 540 seconds
Holiday Reduction in Metres (Target time x MPS reduction):
0 x 540 = 0.00m
Z-Score Reduction
Has run red within the last 4 runs this season (BOTH actual distance and 1up/1down red)?: No
Top 3/6 runs MPS: 5.292 (9 Runs)
Top run MPS: 0.000 (0 Run)
Proportion of Degraded penalty left: 0
Z-Score Reduction in MPS (Top 1 - Top 3/6): -5.292
The target time: 540 seconds
Z-Score Reduction in Metres (Target time x MPS difference x Proportion left):
540 x -5.292 x 0 = 0.00m
The Novice Reduction is the largest of the four values, so it will be applied to the base mark (342.14 - 0).
Reduced Base mark = 342.14m
Win Reduction
Reduced base mark - Win reduction
342.14 - 0.02 = 342.12
Distance Reduction
(Handicap / Race Distance) x Handicap x Proportion Used:
(342.12 / 3200) x 342.12 x 0.5 = 18.29
342.12 - 18.29 = 323.84
Final Mark Unrounded = 323.84m
FINAL MARK = 325.00m

Re: Toby Schreier Flinders meeting
Can Rowston explain this one?
70m open
Baird 2.75
Moss 2.75
only an idiot would think to have a 10.94 100m athlete off the mark as the state champ 10.59 guy.
mossy has run 6.82 for 60m. Baird 7.16. But the SAAL geniuses have them level over 70m. ridiculous.

Hi Baltimore
Those marks for the 70m , Im guess that the saal feels if byou sleep nwith dogs you get fleas and Baird has fleas. How else can I tell it.
Hi Zed
Check out the mark for Matthew Konetschka in the 3200, mark arrived at is 105 , he has been allocated 135, so discretionary been given an extra 30m
Sean Burton had an initial mark of 330 , discretionary pulled back by 180m to 150m.
Its all okay though because its discretionary

Re: Toby Schreier Flinders meeting
Handicapper Notes:
The handicapper is applying discretion for all marks in this race
So if this is the case , then why worry about the chook lotto to start with.
For such a prestige race , I would expect a bit more.
Some athletes have been given no chance what so ever and by meaning that no chance what so ever of getting within a lap of the winner.

Re: Toby Schreier Flinders meeting
Can anyone explain the "holiday" they speak off? Last I checked, athletes don't go on holidays and continue to train ?

Re: Toby Schreier Flinders meeting
So the 3200 is a discretionary handicapped event but the saal then use the chook lotto which cant handle a 3200m event or cant handle the Red running off scratch.Z Score wrote:Handicapper Notes:

The reality of all this , is after the event the athletes will then be given a zscore by the chook lotto system.

The time ran today would get you into the bottom of the results of those ran in 2019.
Track today is looking Soft and spongy with a touch of quick sand so some pretty good adjustments coming in the circle events to cover up flawed handicapping.

9m 25sec winning time last year, (winner will have to sprint over to get the sash before the 300 heats start lol)) with last coming in 11m 43sec it was a 2min 18sec difference between 1st to last, what will the difference be given the genius handicapping this year? 3mins??

Re: Toby Schreier Flinders meeting
Arguably despite handicapping Jordan Harvey out of any chance of winning the "discretionary" handicapping (historically traditional method) was much better than last year under the systems handicapping.
Just goes to show, have someone in position that actually knows what they are doing and you'll get even better results.

Is that correct Womens 800m approx 7 sec off target time, surely Chook lotto cant be that far out.

I think the system may need a bit more of a jig jig Mens 800m approx 6 sec off target time
Hold out for another rejigging of the system , what number is that going to be.

So 2 meetings down and adjustments have been mad to cover a flawed system by calling both tracks as slow.Z Score wrote:

Well done Mumbles.
The challenge is on this week where last season the rock hard Pt Adelaide track was deemed slow and adjustments made. The Port Adelaide track doesnt change much so if it was deemed slow last season it will need to be deemed slow this week. But wait the previous meeting it was Standard and no adjustments,
Dont say there is two chook lottto wheels , one for handicap and one for track ratings.
Cut out the crap ,SA is being mad the laughing stock across the border by sub standard ratings of circular tracks.
