IS it a 70m Gift or a 300m Gift.
Exactly same races were held at the beginning of the season for the McKinnon Parade Meeting, 6 months on theres 12 events instead of the 10 way back in Oct 2020.
Approx 215 athletes competed back in Oct.
Im guessing you would have to expect , with everyone being fitter, last meeting of the season in SA , two extra events , Central location, ideal time slot and a system everyone loves that the number competing would have to be up around 240 surely.
It will be a good guide to how the saal is travelling.

Gossips , who reads this forum regularly , says closer to about half what you say.
Also Gossips tells me that a lot of people arent happy with the date set down for Handicapping and Stewarding forum on April 11th, a lot of disgruntled members.

I cant make the forum (I'm sure Mr Hart wont mind, no doubt a few others as well) I'll be well on my way to Noosa.
If Whisperer and Z-score cant make it then not many will miss the forum right? I mean we are a minority after all!

When they realise that the forum clashes with direct telecat of the Crows game from Melb, it will be changed, but what does the minority know.Top Sport wrote:I cant make the forum (I'm sure Mr Hart wont mind, no doubt a few others as well) I'll be well on my way to Noosa.

I laugh now, because if they do do it, we know they still read this forum.

T.S. its quite clear they are trying to run Hage out of athletics , whatever else can be the reason.
Hage 300m 0ver 35 11m................Hage 800m over 35 22m
Chehade 300m over 35 38m.......Chehade 800m over 35 83m

Barnett300m over 35 66m......Barnett 800m over 35 165m
I think you get the picture , pays to be on the Committee.
Handicapper just showing no knowledge of handicapping what so ever.
Why would Hage bother running the 800m

226 entrants for McKinnon this weekend. Does anyone buy Lyn Peake and Noon running both womens and over 35's 300's??
Interesting that Wilzcek has gone with the open 300 rather than the over 35's!

Acceptances/Scratchings
Acceptances are now open for the McKinnon Parade Athletic Carnival, and will close at 3PM THIS THURSDAY. You will need to visit the acceptance page and submit your acceptance within that timeframe if you wish to run.
or is it
A runner must accept or scratch for all meetings by 3pm Friday (except for the Bay Sheffield, Camden and Loxton when it must be done in person on the day). The link for acceptances and scratchings is http://www.saal.org.au/index.php?id=105
So which one is it?
Is it any wonder there are problems!

Re: McKinnon Parade Athletic Carnival:
Most athletes train on a Thurs night and make a decision as to wether they will run or not after training , why would they make a decision at 3.00pm on a Thurs afternoon.
Also if you are going to Stawell you need to decide wether a 100m against good opposition and a 4x 100 relay is the best training option at Athleticssa or a 70m and 300m at McKinnon.

Re: McKinnon Parade Athletic Carnival:
I like the Brett Stokes review request.
The handicapper made the effort to phone him which was good of him however he wasnt able to reassure Brett or convince him that the process was correct, it was then handballed to Colin.
As a handicapper you should be able to calmly discuss the issue, listen to what is being said and then suggest you will look into it and you will get an answer on your review via the team app, as president you should be able to rely on the handicapper to review the request and not need to get involved with the handicap review.
If the parties are unable to appropriately handle this type of situation then perhaps they are the wrong people for the job?
The review request does highlight the sentiment of members out there and the frustration the system has on members.

Re: McKinnon Parade Athletic Carnival:
Stokes had 79m for Loxton Vets 300, went back to 74 which is also suggested in the review but handicaps for McKinnon say 76m.
Runners name: Brett Stokes
Coaches name: Self-trained
Race: 300m O35
Assigned mark: 74m
The review suggests the appeal was revoked:
Handicapper: Chris Dimitrak
Handicapper’s reply: Thanks for your Handicap Review Request. The distance reduction is applied to a handicap in an attempt to give backmarkers and frontmarkers an equal chance of winning. Seeing
that you are only 3 metres back from your win at Loxton, I am not going to consider reducing the distance reduction on your handicap for this Sunday.
So which is it? 79m back 3m to 76m or is it 74?????
Is it any wonder, FFS!

What a mess its got to, I hear it all and finally the season is over but not before another low number attendance. Mens 300m 9 ran in 2 heats then all ran in the final!
8 scratch from the 1600 leaving only 6 having a run and pack up while the rest retreated home.
Dont forget the forum to solve all the issues is April 11.

Re: McKinnon Parade Athletic Carnival:
Absolute disgrace today Top Sport, I ventured along today , absolutely terrible.
6 athletes going around in a memorial 1600m and winner to take home $300.
I know you should be running for the Sash but all other races ,the winner took home $80, no you Victorians I havent left off a ZERO , winner took home $80
When was the last time winner took home $80 or $90 for winning an Open race.
I also heard there today the Bay Sheff isnt going back to Colley this year and I got told the saal are so broke is the reason.
McKinnon 2004 70m
F 1 Bowie William 6.50 7.297 $120.00
F 2 Steele Andrew 6.00 7.388 $60.00
F 3 Grimwade Shane 9.25 7.477 $25.00
F 4 Hancock Tyson 7.25 7.482 $15.00
F 5 James Robbie 4.75 7.523 $10.00
F 6 Sheffield Richard 10.75 7.617 $10.00
F 7 Duykers Simon 4.75 7.696 $0.00
F 8 Johnson Tim 3.00 7.734 $0.00
2021 70m
1st - $90 : 2nd - $40 : 3rd - $20 : 4th - $10 : 5th - $10 : 6th - $10 : Coach - $20
Wow how the saal has improved in 17 years

Re: McKinnon Parade Athletic Carnival:
Quite funny , Chief Steward not at all interested in the race in the replay.,
Obviously athletes there with no interest at all but there only to make up the numbers.
Young lad ran in the under 14 70m, under 18 300m and under 18 800m , only beat one runner home in all races combined, body language showed he didnt want to be there but 3 runs makes the numbers look better.Very very good way to make your child to lose interest in the sport and the president should be ashamed of himself as a parent.
Over 35 runners also showing little enthisiasm and running for numbers as well.
While I was there I had a look at the grass and it was definately Standard.

Have a look at the 70m results z-score from the weekend and the ones you posted from 2004, checkout what has happened to the handicaps!
The average handicap from 2004 was 6.47m
The average handicap from 2021 was 9.67m
Handicaps in the final are up 50% on this comparison.

Clearly the Chief Steward has little interest and little power ,that photo is a classic .
Gossips says the Colley reserve for Christmas is all about money.
And as for the prizemoney , its all about the Coles jingle , DOWN DOWN DOWN.
And regos and nominations , its all about fuel prices , UP UP UP.
Cant wait for April 11th for the forum where no ones going to attend but you cant tell an Umpire hes wrong.

Just watched the race replays , Winner of the Under 18 wearing a watch, Winner of the 1600m celebrating before the line , yet nothing in the Stewards report.Thats because the Chief Steward was in his seat as seen during the 1600m , totally disinterested.
