Firstly, marks come out 24hours after advertised to be released each week for the 2nd meet in a row and then they spit out numbers that make no sense. There are open runners that have gone back 3m for running a heat. How does baker only get a 0.25 for a $500 win in a decent time on a heavy track???

Handicapping guidlines for Baker is that its a category 4 event so minium pull is .25
The handicapper has the discretional option of another .25 which he didnt take.
All the guidlines can be found under Handicapping and Stewerding rules under Essential Documents posted on 30/09/22
For example Bay penalty 3m plus any additional discretion up to 3m
Pt Adel 1.5m plus and additional discretion up to 1.5
There for everyone to read , open and transparent.
Baker won by .058 so I think .25 is the correct call.

Going by the calulations .50 is the max , every right to appeal.
Definately category 4 race Total prize pool was $1000 so max penalty is .50
What I will say though is I thought her handicap at Marion was pretty handy.Jordy ran at Fleurieu off 2.25 and ran 2nd then came out a couple of weeks later and ran a pb.So maybe should have started off slightly less at Marion.
Isnt it good though to see an athlete in RED off a small handicap running her best and winning.

The category table should be $0 -$999 for category 4 maybe , maybe a misprint.
This brings it into line with category 2 -$4999 and category 3 $9999
As it reads now category 4 is -$1000 and thats what everyone needs to go by.
